A Outdoor and Sporting Goods Company seeks an experienced attorney to join our legal team. Reporting to the Vice President, Associate General Counsel, the Sr. Counsel – Employment will be responsible for advising the business on all employment and labor issues and related matters. The Sr. Counsel – Employment will serve YETI as a subject matter expert in a wide range of labor and employment-related- matters by providing preventative and proactive legal advice on a wide range of Talent/Human Resource practice topics including, but not limited to, employee relations, employment agreements, employee benefits, international HR initiatives, and pre-suit investigations and litigation.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide legal support for all types of labor and employment issues relevant to a global consumer product company with an expanding retail store footprint
  • Draft and review employment agreements, severance agreements, and other related contractual agreements
  • Review and develop employment policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance with federal, state, and local laws
  • Support internal company investigations related to employment
  • Manage all disputes and litigation including responding to complaints, demand letters, and administrative charges; participate in mediations, arbitrations, administrative hearings and litigation; and manage outside counsel as needed
  • Manage and coordinate discovery including preparing interviews, arranging depositions, assisting with interrogatories, and document productions
  • Summarize and report on status of pending litigation, mediations, arbitrations, and hearings
  • Prepare and present training materials on employment and labor issues to HR and leadership
  • Review and report on labor and employment related statutory and regulatory developments
  • Effectively manage outside counsel as needed in specialized or niche areas, such as supporting expansion of our employee and/or contractor base into new jurisdictions
  • Work collaboratively with senior leadership and Talent teams to mitigate risk and address employment issues
  • Provide other legal support services as needed
  • Identifies and elevates issues, and supports the VP, Associate General Counsel and General Counsel as needed

Qualifications and Attributes:
  • JD and at least 6 years of legal experience in a large law firm, boutique labor and employment firm, or in-house as an employment and labor attorney
  • Admission to and in good standing with at least one state bar
  • In-house experience at a global consumer products company preferred, but not required
  • Able to use sound judgement and practice sound employment law strategy
  • Strong customer service mindset
  • Possess executive presence with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to communicate across various departments globally to drive results
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize disparate and complex inputs (both quantitative and qualitative) to make informed business decisions and recommendations
