Licensed attorney;
  • Juris Doctorate Degree from law school accredited by the American Bar Association;
  • Three to six years environmental and safety law experience, including experience with environmental and safety regulatory enforcement.
  • Strong time management, teamwork, problem solving, analytical, communication, research, and writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and analyze complex issues.
  • Comfortable working in cross-cultural teams, collaborating across country boundaries with a sense for diversity and inclusion; and highest standards of ethics and integrity.

Activities
The primary responsibilities of this position include:
  • Providing legal advice to the corporate HSE Departments, project managers, and operating site HSE personnel on environmental, health and safety regulatory matters and site cleanup requirements including: regulatory developments and applicability; statutory interpretation; reporting obligations; cost recovery actions; and other HSE related matters.
  • Providing legal support to business units regarding HSE agency enforcement actions and compliance reporting.
  • Advising on remediation liabilities.
  • Supporting M&A Teams on HSE due diligence and Project Teams on contract review and drafting.
  • In conjunction with the Corporate, Projects, HSSE, Litigation, Trade & Compliance, and M&A teams, working cooperatively on all aspects of the TotalEnergies Company business activities in the U.S.

  • This position supports a wide variety of energy businesses spread across various business lines with a rapidly changing and expanding perimeter. In this position you will be a member of the TotalEnergies American Services (TEAS) entity providing HSE legal support and other key services to TotalEnergies' US businesses. Position requires keeping up-to-date with evolving State and Federal environmental regulations and statutes.
  • Position requires assisting the Deputy General Counsel with HSE litigation and agency enforcement matters, including document review and discovery, trial preparation, and negotiation of settlements.

Additional Information:
  • Advise corporate and operating site HSE personnel on environmental, health and safety regulatory compliance, including reporting obligations.
  • Advise remediation affiliate on legal matters relating to site cleanups.
  • Provide legal support for environmental litigation matters.
  • Provide HSE legal support for projects and M&A matters, including review of contracts and due diligence.
