We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Real Estate Associate to join our New York office. This role is focused on transactional matters, with an emphasis on representing and advising cooperative and condominium boards. The ideal candidate will have four to seven years of relevant experience and a strong background in transactional real estate. Qualifications:
Juris Doctorate (JD) required. Must be licensed to practice law in the State of New York.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Strong research, writing skills, and academic record
  • Experience drafting and reviewing proprietary leases, by-laws and house rules and assisting boards in enforcing such documents
  • Experience preparing AIA contracts and access license agreements.
  • Advising board members and managing agents on day-to-day legal matters and regulatory issues that affect the housing association
  • Preparing and amending governing documents (proprietary leases, declarations, bylaws, rules, and regulations) and operational form documents and policies
  • Drafting documents for and render advice at board and shareholder/unit owner meetings
  • Advising on budget and expense matters, including dispute resolution as needed
  • Negotiating access agreements; experience with Article 881 proceedings is a plus
  • Drafting and negotiating contracts with contractors and vendors
  • Drafting and negotiating retail and commercial leases, garage agreements
  • Advising clients on local, state, and federal compliance issues
  • Experience with borrower side financing and re-financing

Work Environment & Physical Demands:
This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment including, but not limited to computers, telephones, printers, and copiers.

Physical Requirements:
Sedentary work: Exertion of physical strength to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 10 pounds. Work involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.
