Overview of the Function
A Multinational Law Firm is looking for an experienced attorney to join the US Dispute Resolution group as Practice Resource Attorney for US Litigation. The DR group is made up of litigation, investigation, and international arbitration lawyers who serve some of the world's biggest businesses, representing them in their most complex and reputationally significant disputes. The US Litigation team supports companies on a wide range of disputes in state and federal court including securities class actions, M&A-related litigation, shareholder derivative matters, complex commercial litigation, and transnational and cross-border disputes. The Practice Resource Attorney will play an instrumental role in helping our lawyers operate more effectively and efficiently, thereby contributing to the group's ability to continue to foster and grow relationships with our clients.

Role summary/purpose of job
The successful candidate will be responsible for initiating, managing, and coordinating a broad range of practice resource, knowledge management, and business development activities.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables:
Enable the firm's lawyers to provide market-leading client service
  • Monitor, review, and summarize key securities and shareholder litigation trends, decisions, and developments– always considering the impact on internal practice resources, as well as profile raising and business development potential
  • Develop, organize, and maintain internal knowledge-sharing website and work product precedent bank for US litigation team, including creating pages and curated collections across specialties.
  • Work with partners and other senior stakeholders to develop internal practice preferences including templates, best practices and checklists.
  • Create and maintain US litigation practice resources, including judicial profiles, circuit-specific summaries, and topic-specific handbooks
  • Train attorneys on relevant services and processes, e.g., how to use precedent databases, resources for legal research, etc., and provide direct support as appropriate for locating and utilizing practice resources
  • Collaborate with practice management and talent development to help design and deliver associate and summer associate training programs
  • Stay current on the latest technology as it is relevant for US litigation, including maintaining familiarity with the firm's current offerings and pilot programs, and attending webinars and/or conferences for general market awareness
  • Promote innovation and efficiency within the team by providing direction and input into ways of working and use of technology and alternative resources
  • Assist with change management and implementation of new technology rollouts as relevant to practice resources
  • Collaborate with global K lawyers and Learning and Development to ensure the US perspective is represented in global DR training programs, conferences, and other related activities.
  • Collaborate with peers in other practice groups and regions to ensure US Litigation is appropriately represented in cross-practice and cross-border initiatives.

Help grow the business of the firm and strengthen client relationships
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Business Development department on practice-related initiatives
  • Ensure capture of team's US litigation matters and all relevant knowledge insights in Foundation
  • Assist with planning, drafting, publication, circulation and archiving client-facing knowledge products and thought leadership, including blog posts, briefings, client presentations, and webinars, and contributing to larger publications and articles
  • Identify topics for client-facing conversations/CLE sessions and assist in the preparation of materials
  • Assist in managing the team's web presence, including drafting and updating practice-related content
  • Work with the business development team and others to provide information for ratings, rankings and submissions
  • Coordinate and manage practice-related events and sponsorships, including liaising with lawyers, external organizations, and supporting internal/external services
  • Assist with additional projects and requests, as required

Key requirements (Communication/skills/experience)
Essential:
  • J.D. or L.L.M.
  • 3+ years' experience practicing US litigation, preferably at a large law firm
  • Strong familiarity with securities and shareholder litigation
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively handle multiple, complex and time sensitive projects
  • Proven self-starter with the ability to execute and enhance knowledge management and business development plans
  • Excellent influencing skills
  • Strong client service focus, outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels within the firm
  • Excellent analytical and writing skills
  • An understanding of the principles of knowledge management and interest in legal innovation
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
