A Worlds Leading Professional Services is currently seeking candidates for an exciting position based out of either our Boston or New York office. This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, with three days spent working in either office per week.

Mercer Investments, A Worlds Leading Professional Services business, is a global provider of multi-manager investments solutions. In the US, Mercer provides investment management services, overseeing the asset allocation, investment decisions, rebalancing and investment monitoring of client portfolios through its “outsourced chief investment officer” (or “OCIO”) business, as well as investment advisory services, to a range of institutional clients.

  • You will join the team as Investments Counsel on a team of attorneys supporting our US registered investment adviser, Mercer Investments LLC, and related entities.
  • The Investments Counsel position will be responsible for providing strategic and tactical legal advice supporting Mercer's investment management and investment consulting businesses in the US, working closely with the investments, operations, and compliance teams.

We will count on you to:
  • Negotiate complex contracts with institutional clients and key service providers.
  • Advise the business regarding proposed new client initiatives.
  • Advise on regulatory obligations applicable to registered investment advisers.
  • Stay abreast of legal, regulatory, and industry developments and advise on critical legal, regulatory, and business risks.
  • Contribute to and reinforce A Worlds Leading Professional Services Legal, Compliance & Public Affairs Department's Strategic Plan or initiatives that impact the LCPA organization.
  • Demonstrate strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Collaborate effectively with business, operations and legal and compliance colleagues.
  • Promote an ethical culture where employees are encouraged to voice their concerns and opinions; and
  • Above all, exercise sound judgment.

What you need to have:
  • JD from a US accredited law school and license to practice, in good standing, in at least one of the fifty states.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience, either at a law firm, financial services firm, or financial services industry regulator or self-regulatory organization.
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, the Investment Advisers Act, the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), and/or the Investment Company Act.
