Mintz's Health Law practice is uniquely positioned to guide clients through structural and operational challenges. Our clients include providers (non-profit, publicly traded, and private equity backed), payors, pharmacy benefit managers and administrators, manufacturers, distributors, and suppliers. Position Overview:
Mintz is looking for an associate with 3+ years of M&A experience to join the Health Law Practice transactions team in our Boston, New York, or DC office. Candidates must have experience with joint ventures, acquisitions, divestitures, and mergers. Candidates must have the ability to provide efficient legal service both independently and as part of a team, be willing to quickly integrate into our robust national health care industry M&A practice, commit to providing the highest quality of client service in support of a broad range of complex transactions, and be dedicated to professional development consistent with this on-track partnership position. Strong academic credentials, excellent critical reasoning skills and the ability to communicate complex legal concepts are required. This individual will be assigned to the team responsible for the transactional work for multiple large provider and private equity clients.

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include working with other Mintz attorneys on all aspects of transactions, including drafting and negotiating transaction documents, conducting and reporting out on due diligence, managing the deal process, communicating with clients, co-counsel, and opposing counsel, and taking the lead on smaller transactions and on designated aspects of large transactions. Experience with directing and managing deal team members and specialists, both within and outside of the firm, is required. Attention to detail, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to anticipate and respond to client requests quickly, efficiently, and effectively is critical.

Collaboration with team members is an important component of any role at Mintz. Therefore, the firm requires working from the office approximately 60% of the time in accordance with the firm's published guidelines.

Qualifications:
  • Graduated with a JD or LLM from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Admitted to or eligible for admission to the MA, NY or DC Bar
  • Must have 3+ years of strategic M&A experience, in the health care industry
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Professionalism in working and engaging with demanding clients
  • Ability to balance and prioritize multiple competing priorities and responsibilities
  • Ability to stay organized and exercise extreme attention to detail
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively in team settings
  • Familiarity with federal and state laws regulating health care providers, including the federal Anti-Kickback Statute, the Stark Law, state corporate practice of medicine restrictions, and CON and licensure requirements is preferred.
