Description:

Job Overview:
Mountain West Law is seeking an experienced construction and real estate litigator to join the firm as an equity partner. As part of a planned succession, the firm has an established construction and real estate litigation practice, with active matters and long-standing client relationships, that needs an experienced partner to lead it.

This is an opportunity to develop into an ownership role where you would share in the firm's office expenses, but also keep more of what you earn from the clients. This is negotiable. You will work alongside the firm's managing partner.

Your Role:
  • Take over and lead an existing book of construction and real estate litigation matters, from pre-suit strategy through trial and appeal.
  • Represent owners, developers, general contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers in construction defect, payment, mechanics' lien, bond, delay, and contract disputes.
  • Litigate real estate disputes, including purchase and sale, title, boundary, easement, lease, and development disputes.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for the firm's litigation clients.
  • Grow the practice through your own clients, referrals, and business development.
  • Help shape firm strategy, operations, and growth as an owner.

Qualifications:
  • J.D. and an active license to practice in Utah, in good standing (or eligibility for prompt admission).
  • At least 5 years of litigation experience focused on construction and real estate disputes.
  • Lead or first-chair experience handling depositions, dispositive motions, mediation, arbitration, and trial.
  • Ability to manage a full caseload independently and serve as lead counsel.
  • Strong writing, judgment, and client service skills.
  • An entrepreneurial approach to practice. Existing client relationships or a portable book of business is a plus.

Why Mountain West Law:
  • Step into an established practice with active matters and clients from day one.
  • The ability to gain equity ownership and a voice in how the firm is run.
  • Uncapped earning potential tied to your own work and clients.
  • Shared office overhead, which lowers the cost of running your practice.
  • Hybrid flexibility.
