Parsons Behle & Latimer is seeking an Associate Litigation Attorney with 5-8 years of experience to join its Salt Lake City litigation practice. Parsons is a regional law firm headquartered in Salt Lake City that has national expertise in numerous practice areas. The firm is at the forefront of the legal communities in Utah, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Wyoming, and the Intermountain Region.

The ideal candidate will have strong legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills; meaningful experience managing discovery, motion practice, and case strategy; and the judgment and professionalism needed to work directly with clients, colleagues, courts, and opposing counsel. As a member of our litigation team, you will have the opportunity to assist our clients in resolving a broad range of disputes at the local, regional, and national levels.

Responsibilities:
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests and responses, correspondence, and other litigation documents.
  • Conduct legal research and develop practical, persuasive litigation strategies for a variety of civil litigation matters.
  • Manage discovery, including document review, productions, subpoenas, written discovery, depositions, and discovery disputes.
  • Prepare for and participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, experts, witnesses, and court personnel.
  • Work collaboratively with partners, associates, paralegals, and professional staff to advance client objectives efficiently and effectively.

Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in Utah, or eligibility and willingness to become licensed in Utah.
  • Ability to manage litigation matters with limited supervision.
  • 5–8 years of litigation experience, preferably including general civil litigation, commercial litigation, tort litigation, employment litigation, or other comparable litigation experience.
  • Excellent research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage deadlines, prioritize assignments, and work independently while contributing to a team-oriented practice.
  • Strong professional judgment, attention to detail, and commitment to client service.
