Position Overview:We are seeking a newly admitted attorney to join our litigation practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and ambitious attorney looking to gain hands-on experience in all aspects of litigation while working closely with experienced attorneys and mentors.
The ideal candidate is eager to develop courtroom skills, learn litigation strategy, and build a long-term career in trial practice. Candidates with strong research, writing, and advocacy skills are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with all phases of litigation from case inception through resolution
- Draft pleadings, motions, legal memoranda, and discovery responses
- Conduct legal research and case analysis
- Attend court appearances, depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials with supervising attorneys
- Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel
- Review medical records, contracts, and other case-related documents
- Support trial preparation and case management activities
- Maintain organized case files and meet litigation deadlines
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Recently admitted to practice law in New York or awaiting bar admission results
- Strong legal research and writing abilities
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Interest in litigation and courtroom advocacy
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Westlaw, and/or LexisNexis preferred
Preferred Experience:
- Judicial internship, externship, or law clerk experience
- Moot court or mock trial participation
- Prior exposure to civil litigation, criminal law, insurance defense, or trial advocacy
