A well-established and highly regarded Milwaukee family law firm with a statewide practice is seeking an Associate Attorney with family law experience to join our team. We represent clients in a wide range of family law matters throughout Wisconsin and are looking for an attorney who combines strong legal skills with sound judgment, professionalism, and a commitment to providing excellent client service.

This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who is ready to assume meaningful responsibility for their own caseload while also working collaboratively with experienced attorneys on sophisticated and challenging family law matters.

The Position:
The successful candidate will be expected to manage their own family law cases with appropriate support and supervision while also assisting other attorneys with their matters. Responsibilities may include:

Managing family law matters from initial consultation through resolution;
Advising clients regarding divorce, legal separation, custody and placement, child support, maintenance, property division, and related family law issues;
Drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, correspondence, discovery, settlement agreements, and other legal documents;
Conducting legal research and analyzing complex legal and factual issues;
Preparing for and appearing at hearings, conferences, mediations, depositions, and trials;
Negotiating effectively and professionally with opposing counsel;
Maintaining regular and thoughtful communication with clients;
Managing deadlines and maintaining organized and accurate case files; and
Collaborating with attorneys, paralegals, and other members of the firm on cases as needed.

The ideal candidate:

Prior experience practicing family law;
Genuine interest in resolving custody and placement disputes;
Admission to the State Bar of Wisconsin and good standing, or the ability to become admitted;
Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills;
Excellent legal writing skills and careful attention to detail;
The ability to independently manage cases, deadlines, and client expectations;
Strong interpersonal and client-service skills;
The ability to work effectively as part of a team;
Sound professional judgment;
The ability to communicate effectively with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and colleagues;
A commitment to treating clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, colleagues, and others with respect, professionalism, and integrity at all times;
Strong interest in becoming involved in local bar associations and organizations; and
Willing to publish and speak to various organizations.
