Description:
Borgelt, Powell, Peterson & Frauen, S.C. is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney with 0–5 years of defense litigation experience to join our team in Milwaukee. The ideal candidate will have experience managing cases from inception through resolution and will work closely with firm Shareholders on a variety of litigation matters.This position offers hands-on litigation experience, client interaction, and the opportunity to participate in all stages of case development and trial preparation.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research and analyze materials for litigation and trial preparation
- Prepare and respond to written discovery
- Take and defend depositions
- Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel
- Assist attorneys in preparing for hearings and trials
- Develop case strategy
- Maintain and develop strong client relationships
Qualifications:
- 0–5 years of experience in defense litigation
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Licensed to practice law in Wisconsin or eligible for admission
- Experience handling cases from start to finish
- Experience arguing motions in court
- Jury trial experience preferred
- Strong written communication and analytical skills
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism
