A regional law firm seeks an associate attorney with 1-2 years of experience in litigation to join our Cincinnati office. A Regional Law Firm provides legal services to commercial and consumer credit grantors. Our client's needs include creditor's rights, commercial litigation, collection of past due accounts, landlord tenant matters, bankruptcy services, and compliance with and litigation involving federal and state consumer laws.

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks:
  • Acts with the highest ethical standards as a legal professional.
  • Actively promotes professionalism, collegiality and diversity within and outside the office.
  • Delivers excellent customer service to clients.
  • Possesses strong organizational, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Represents clients at legal proceedings as assigned.
  • Researches and interprets laws, rulings, and regulations and formulates legal opinions.
  • Review and draft legal briefs, correspondence, pleadings, and other legal documents.
  • Monitors routine case files to formulate next course of action and ensure deadlines are maintained.
  • Assigns and reviews the work of department staff, as required.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with current clients.
  • Negotiates with individuals to achieve final resolution of cases and arrange legal settlements.
  • Additional duties as requested or required.

Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.) and 1-2 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively, and discretely, to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest, proportions, and/or percentages.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, legal codes, legal/court procedures, precedents, and government regulations, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and other applicable consumer protection statutes and regulations.
  • Must hold a current, valid state license to practice law in Ohio. License to practice in Kentucky or Indiana a plus.
  • A writing sample and unofficial transcripts may be required.
