Arnold & Porter is seeking a junior to mid-level associate to join the Tax-Exempt Organizations team within the firm's Tax Practice in our New York or Washington, DC office.

Qualified applicants should have at least two to four years of relevant tax-exempt law experience, a record of outstanding academic achievement, superior writing and analytical skills, and a demonstrated interest in tax-exempt organizations.

Arnold & Porter's Tax-Exempt Organizations team represents nonprofits, philanthropists, and companies in structuring and implementing creative solutions to address some of the world's most complex challenges. We have strong and diverse experience in representing a wide variety of tax-exempt organizations on operational, governance, and regulatory matters, including public charities, private foundations, international NGOs, and social welfare advocacy groups, and working closely with high-net-worth individuals and their controlled entities on cutting-edge venture philanthropy transactions. We have a particular focus in representing medical research organizations and in negotiating and structuring academic research consortia, private foundations in the development and implementation of complex grantmaking and impact investment programs, in the structuring and operation of international affiliate structures, as well as working with family offices to achieve funders' philanthropic and policy goals through individual funding and innovative tax-exempt and for-profit vehicles.

Applicants must currently be licensed, or currently eligible to become licensed, to practice law in the jurisdiction(s) where they apply.

The salary range for this position in New York and Washington DC is $235,000 - $365,000, commensurate with experience.

Eligibility for an hours-based bonus available.
