Description:
Position Overview:We are seeking a Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney to join our growing practice. Defense-side experience preferred but not required. The ideal candidate will work closely with a collaborative team of attorneys and support staff, handling a mix of administrative and court-based work, including appearances before the Industrial Commission along with Court related proceedings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Defend employers and insurers in workers' compensation matters
- Manage a full caseload from inception through resolution
- Appear at hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials
- Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and settlement documents
- Advise clients on claims strategy, exposure, and risk management
- Communicate regularly with clients, opposing counsel, and claims professionals
- Collaborate with partners and support staff to ensure efficient case handling
Qualifications:
- 1-3 years minimum prior experience in handling Ohio workers' compensation matters, preferably on the defense side.
- Must also have experience handling general discovery matters, including taking depositions, interviewing witnesses, responding to written discovery, and preparing motions.
- Exceptional attention to detail, strong writing and legal research skills, and a strong work ethic.
- Entrepreneurial growth mindset for client development and practice management.
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Active license and in good standing with the Ohio Bar
- Strong litigation, negotiation, and legal writing skills
- Ability to manage deadlines and high-volume caseloads
