Reed Smith is seeking an experienced litigation attorney with strong experience practicing in Washington state courts to support a busy commercial litigation
portfolio. The attorney will assist with the management and defense of a variety of litigation matters, including individual consumer-related actions, personal injury and premises liability matters, and other commercial disputes. The attorney will work closely with Reed Smith attorneys, opposing counsel, clients, and other stakeholders to develop litigation strategies and efficiently resolve matters.

The attorney will support active litigation matters in Washington state and federal courts, with particular emphasis on knowledge of local court practices, rules, and customs. Responsibilities will include drafting, reviewing, and revising pleadings, motions, discovery, settlement materials, and other litigation-related documents; conducting legal research and providing practical, business-oriented legal analysis; and handling local court proceedings, including depositions, hearings, mediations, and arbitrations, as needed. The attorney will also manage state and federal court filings, including electronic filing and service, and assist with or sponsor out-of-state attorneys seeking pro hac vice admission and related appearances.

Additional responsibilities will include coordinating with outside counsel and other stakeholders to develop litigation strategy, assess risk, and drive matterstoward efficient resolution; supporting case investigation, witness preparation, document collection, discovery responses, and overall case management; and monitoring deadlines, court rules, and case developments to ensure matters are handled effectively and efficiently.

Candidates must be actively licensed to practice law in Washington and in good standing, with at least five years of litigation experience in Washington state and federal courts. Candidates should have strong knowledge of Washington civil procedure, local court rules, and federal court practice, as well as demonstrated experience with case management, legal writing, and courtroom advocacy. The ideal candidate will possess excellent judgment, strong written and oral communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment. Preference will be given to candidates with experience defending commercial litigation matters involving consumer disputes and/or premises liability and personal injury matters.
