Responsibilities:
  • Drafting position statements
  • Responding to agency requests for information
  • Representing A Construction & Civil Engineering Company in settlement negotiations and remote mediations
  • Defense of administrative agency charge and attorney demand letters assigned to them from investigation through conclusion
  • Managing defense of A Construction & Civil Engineering Company against charges of discrimination, harassment, retaliation and other related claims
  • Represent company in labor negotiations and grievance hearings
  • Reviewing and interpreting labor agreements
  • Assisting company in arbitration proceedings.
  • Responding to unfair labor practice charges and requests for information
  • Assisting in the development and execution of the company's Labor Relations strategy
  • Collaborating with key stakeholders and ensuring proper authorization and reporting to decision-makers is completed.
  • Working with Assistant General Counsels to develop and improve on legal procedures relating to labor relations and employment disputes.
  • Working with the Legal department on projects, providing support particularly from a labor relations and employment perspective.
  • Advising on employee benefit matters, including compensation, pensions, and related issues.
  • Managing outside counsel and coordinating litigation matters.

Qualifications:
  • Educational Requirement: JD (Juris Doctor)
  • Must maintain an active JD or license in state of residency
  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in Labor & Employment Law for both US and Canada
  • Experience with administrative agency charges, at both the federal and state levels on the management side
  • Familiarity with drafting position statements and representation at hearings and/or mediations
  • EEOC familiarity
  • Experience negotiating and/or interpreting collective bargaining agreements
  • Experience assisting in grievance processes and unfair labor practice charges
  • Experience conducting internal investigations on employment matters, including advising management on response to investigative findings.
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders, either in legal disputes or in projects
