This is a full time in-office position, located in New Hyde Park, NY - hours are Monday to Friday 9 AM to 6 PM.
Senior Litigation Attorney Job Responsibilities:
- Manage Department Staffing: Paralegals, Attorneys and Risk & Recovery Staff.
- Delegate Duties to all Paralegals: legal reviews, Stipulation/CR Requests, UCCs, Default Judgements etc.
- Directly oversee the work product of all paralegals.
- Manage all litigation matter pending before local courts, including motion practice and settlement discussion with opposing counsel
- Drafting and arguing motions for state and federal court litigation.
- Court Appearances as necessary
- Arbitration hearings as necessary
- Conducting judgement debtor examinations
- Correspond with merchants, attorneys, banks, and the courts via phone and email.
- Assessing likelihoof of recovery on defualted accounts
- Judgement enforcement by levy, garnishment and other lawful judicial remedies
- Finalize legal documents and file with courts & sherriff/Marshals Office
- Filing UCCs
- Collaborate on high value files to determine and coordinate best approach to collection
- Perform all other related assignment and duties as requested.
Commercial Litigation Attorney Qualifications/Experience:
- New York State Bar License.
- Federal court admission is a plus.
- 4-7 years of experience in Commercial Litigation.
- Proficiency with NYSCEF.
- Comfortable with drafting and filing legal documents.
- Answering debtor inquiries and negotiating payments.
- Excellent organizational skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word – Outlook – Excel.
- Able to multitask and thrive in a busy environment.
- Demonstrate professionalism and a positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Commercial Litigation: 4-7 year (Required)
License/Certification:
- New York State Bar License (Required)
