The Senior Director and Policy Counsel will help guide the policy agenda and develop a plan for strategic engagement for the Workforce Solutions and U.S. Information Solutions business units. The Senior Director and Policy Counsel is responsible for reviewing federal legislation and regulations to identify risks and opportunities. The Senior Director and Policy Counsel communicates with federal agencies and congressional offices, including through direct lobbying. The Senior Director and Policy Counsel works with internal and external stakeholders to support the business priorities and policy goals of Equifax.
Reporting to the SVP of Government Relations, this position offers the flexibility to work remotely two days a week, or our state-of-the-art global Headquarters located in Midtown, Atlanta, GA or from Washington DC.
This position does not offer immigration sponsorship (current or future) including F-1 STEM OPT extension support.
What you'll do:
- Promote the policy and business objectives of Equifax Workforce Solutions and U.S. Information Solutions with members of Congress and Executive agencies.
- Understand policies, statutes, and regulations related to entitlement programs, including Medicaid, Social Security Insurance, Social Security Disability Insurance, and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
- Monitor and engage in advocacy efforts on legislation related to financial services laws and regulations, including the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
- Review federal legislation and regulations to analyze the impact on Equifax business objectives.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to communicate legislative and policy requirements for compliance purposes.
- Draft federal regulatory comments and proposals.
- Collaborate with internal and external policy and legal counsel.
- Attend political events as a representative of the Equifax Inc. Political Action Committee.
- Participate in trade associations to help advance business objectives.
What experience you need:
- 5+ years of professional experience
- Juris Doctor degree is required OR 10+ years of deep policy/lobbying experience (e.g., a Chief of Staff, Legislative Director, or Professional Staff Member) with specific committee experience in lieu of JD
- Familiarity with financial services laws and regulations, including the Fair Credit Reporting Act
- Demonstrate strong judgment and discretion
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
- Ability to travel up to 5% if based in Washington DC or 25% if based in Atlanta, GA
What could set you apart:
- Previous experience in a congressional office or federal agency is preferred, but not required
- Understanding of federal entitlement programs including Medicaid, Social Security Insurance, Social Security Disability Insurance, and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, among others
