Who we are looking for:
JBRLG is seeking an experienced attorney with a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience, including first and/or second chair trial experience, who is highly driven and interested in a senior counsel or partner-level position that can maintain the firm's excellent standards and contribute to the firm's overall growth and possible succession. The candidate must be licensed to practice law in Illinois, admitted to the Northern District of Illinois, and have a demonstrated history of developing and overseeing litigation strategy, and handling all aspects of federal and state litigation from start to finish. This candidate must be capable of upholding client expectations while also supervising associate attorneys and support staff as may be needed. JBRLG will also strongly consider an attorney with a portable book of business who can also dedicate undivided attention to the firm's needs and existing corporate and municipal clients. This is a hybrid in person and remote work position.
Qualified candidates must have significant employment law and litigation experience in federal and state courts in order to be considered. Preference will be given to candidates that have had any municipal liability experience. In addition to candidates with relevant litigation and trial experience, we will also welcome applications from candidates who are experienced in internal investigations; settlement negotiations; compliance counseling; workplace trainings; drafting of employment policies/handbooks, restrictive covenants, employment agreements, and/or independent contractor/subcontractor agreements; and have any experience handling claims alleging business injury, breach of restrictive covenant, and trade secret misappropriation.
JBRLG is also willing to consider qualified applicants seeking either part-time employment or an of counsel position with a portable book of business.
Minimum Qualifications:
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Licensed and in good standing with the Illinois Bar.
- Admitted to the Northern District of Illinois.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, including prior trial experience.
- Sophisticated legal drafting and litigation skills with a demonstrated track record.
- Strong written and oral communication, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
- Significant courtroom and deposition experience, including the ability to independently prepare for and handle fact and expert witness examinations, oral arguments, opening/closing statements.
- The knowledge and ability to appear in court and serve as litigation and trial counsel in the Law Division of Cook County, Illinois and the Northern District of Illinois with the ability to serve as lead counsel at times.
- The ability to effectively and efficiently manage multiple matters, and/or supervise junior attorneys and support staff on deliverables.
- Commitment to ethical and strategic business growth initiatives in addition to ensuring optimal results for our clients.
