Job Title: Senior Counsel

Job Location: 12301 Kurland Drive, Houston, TX 77034

Primary Function:
In consultation with management, provides guidance, direction, and assistance on a wide variety of legal matters. Primary focus will be the review and negotiation of complex EPC contracts for projects in the electric power and ancillary industries, from the initial proposal phase through the project execution phase. This position will also support the negotiations and renewals of Master Service Agreements, purchasing agreements and other ancillary agreements with customers.

This position will be based at Quanta's Houston, Texas corporate headquarters and report to Dashiell's General Counsel.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with customers (EPC, Design-Build, Professional Services Agreements, MSA, etc.).
  • Assist Sales, Supply Chain / Procurement, and Operations groups with negotiation of contracts and purchase orders with subcontractors and vendors.
  • Provide contract support and advise on contract issues as needed during project execution, including change orders.
  • Travel to various company locations, project sites, legal proceedings, and contract negotiations as required.
  • Carries out other duties as required

Minimum Qualifications / Experience

  • Juris Doctorate granted by an ABA accredited law school.
  • 6+ years of legal transactional/commercial experience, including customer contracts and face-to face negotiations.
  • 4+ years of experience negotiating contracts in the construction industry.
  • Experience related to EPC projects in the electric power industry (transmission and distribution) strongly preferred.
  • Experience negotiating joint venture agreements preferred.
  • Current license to practice law.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer (meetings, scheduling, reporting).
  • Ability to stand and walk intermittently during office or site visits.
  • Ability to travel to project sites and offices as required (typically short-duration visits).
  • Field / Site Visit Requirements (Occasional)
  • Ability to walk on uneven terrain, gravel, and graded surfaces typical of substation construction sites.
  • Ability to navigate active construction environments, including:
  • stairs, ramps, temporary walkways
  • partially completed structures
  • Ability to climb stairs or ladders to access elevated work areas or control buildings (not continuous climbing).
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toe boots, FR clothing , and hearing protection as needed
  • Working extended hours, including weekends, may be required periodically.
