New York City–based commercial law firm, with more than 80 attorneys, is seeking a mid-level Real Estate Attorney to join our Real Estate Practice Group. While this is a firm position, the candidate will work primarily with a major private equity real estate client that subleases office space from our firm, providing day-to-day legal support directly alongside the client's investment team.About the Client:
The client owns over $3.5 billion of multifamily real estate across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic and has recently raised a new fund targeting $1.6 billion of acquisitions of suburban multifamily communities. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain deep exposure to sophisticated private equity real estate transactions in partnership with one of the most active multifamily sponsors in the region.
Position Overview:
The ideal candidate will bring 5+ years of substantive commercial real estate transactional experience, including:
- Purchases and sales of multifamily apartment communities
- Closing financings and refinancings (agency, bank, CMBS, and private capital)
- Drafting and negotiating joint venture agreements and related documents
- Reviewing and analyzing title reports, surveys, and related diligence materials
- Advising on ownership, financing, and partnership structures
Qualifications:
- J.D. from an accredited law school; admitted to practice in New York
- Minimum of 5 years' relevant real estate transactional experience
- Proven ability to manage acquisitions, dispositions, and financing matters from start to finish
- Strong title review, due diligence, and document negotiation skills
- Excellent judgment and client-service orientation, with the ability to work seamlessly with both the firm and the client's investment professionals
