Description:

Berger Legal LLC, a growing law firm focused on technology, privacy, AI and commercial matters, is seeking an experienced privacy attorney to provide additional capacity to our privacy practice. The attorney will work alongside and handle overflow matters from the firm's existing privacy attorney, particularly as our privacy practice continues to grow.

This is a remote, contract attorney position with flexible hours. The amount of work may vary depending on client needs, but we are looking for someone interested in developing an ongoing relationship with the firm rather than a short-term project.

The attorney will work directly with Berger Legal attorneys and clients on a range of privacy and data protection matters, which may include:
  • Drafting and negotiating Data Processing Addenda (DPAs) and related privacy provisions
  • Advising clients regarding applicable privacy and data protection laws and regulations
  • Advising on GDPR and other international privacy issues
  • Reviewing and drafting privacy policies and related disclosures
  • Advising technology and SaaS companies regarding privacy compliance
  • Addressing privacy issues arising in commercial agreements, product development, AI and data use
  • Assisting with other privacy-related counseling and projects as needed

Qualifications:
  • At least 5 years of legal experience, with meaningful experience focused on privacy and data protection
  • Strong knowledge of privacy and data protection laws and regulations
  • Significant experience drafting and negotiating DPAs and related privacy provisions
  • Experience with GDPR and international privacy matters strongly preferred
  • Experience representing technology, SaaS or other growth-stage companies strongly preferred
  • Excellent drafting, analytical and client communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and provide practical, business-oriented advice
  • Law firm and/or significant in-house privacy experience preferred

This is an independent contractor position that can be performed remotely from anywhere in the world. We are particularly interested in attorneys who have an existing solo practice, consulting practice or other flexible arrangement that permits them to take on additional ongoing work.
