Description:
Responsibilities:- Manage a personal injury caseload from pre-litigation through trial preparation.
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, meet and confer correspondence, and other litigation documents.
- Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on complex legal issues.
- Take and defend depositions of parties, witnesses, and experts.
- Prepare clients for depositions, mediation, arbitration, and trial.
- Attend court hearings, case management conferences, mediations, and settlement conferences.
- Develop case strategy in collaboration with senior attorneys.
- Communicate regularly with clients regarding case status and litigation strategy.
- Negotiate settlements with insurance companies and opposing counsel.
- Work closely with experts, investigators, and medical providers to develop damages and liability evidence.
- Review and analyze medical records, employment records, and other evidence.
- Maintain organized and accurate case files while ensuring compliance with court deadlines.
- Assist in trial preparation, including exhibit preparation, witness coordination, motions in limine, jury instructions, and trial briefs.
- Provide exceptional client service and maintain strong attorney-client relationships.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active member in good standing with the California State Bar.
- 2–3 years of personal injury litigation experience.
- Experience handling written discovery, depositions, law and motion practice, and court appearances.
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Excellent oral advocacy and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal case management software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience attending mediations and settlement conferences.
- Experience taking and defending depositions.
- Trial preparation experience.
- Familiarity with California Code of Civil Procedure and California Rules of Court.
- Experience with e-filing and electronic discovery.
