About the role:
We are seeking an experienced attorney to join our Houston team in an Of Counsel capacity. This role is designed for an attorney with approximately five years of practice experience who brings strong legal skills and a specific expertise or client base to the firm, without being on the traditional partnership track. The ideal candidate values a flexible, non-partnership relationship with the firm while still contributing substantively to client matters, business development, and firm projects.

Responsibilities:

Manage a caseload or specialized practice area with a high degree of independence
Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents and agreements
Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on complex issues
Represent and advise clients directly, building and maintaining strong relationships
Serve as a subject-matter resource and advisor to partners and associates
Contribute to business development and client relationship management
Mentor junior associates and paralegals as needed
Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and firm policies

Qualifications:

J.D. from an accredited law school
Active member in good standing of the State Bar of Texas (or eligible for admission)
Minimum of 5 years of relevant legal experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical, research, and negotiation abilities
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines independently
High attention to detail and sound professional judgment
