Description:
About the Opportunity:Leventhal Swan Taylor Temming PC is seeking an exceptional attorney with at least three years of litigation experience to join our civil litigation department as a mid-to-senior associate or of counsel attorney.
This is an excellent opportunity for a highly capable lawyer looking to make a meaningful lateral move into a sophisticated, high-performing litigation practice. We are looking for someone who wants to do serious work, assume substantial responsibility, work directly with clients, and continue developing as a trusted advocate and strategist within a respected Colorado firm.
The attorney who fills this role will not be limited to routine case management or narrow supporting assignments. This position is designed for a lawyer who wants to play a meaningful role in case development, written advocacy, strategic decision-making, and client counseling across a challenging and varied civil litigation docket. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute at a high level from the outset and will have a genuine opportunity to distinguish him or herself within the firm.
The most important qualification for this role is excellent legal writing. We are seeking an attorney with superior analytical ability who can take complicated legal and factual issues and turn them into clear, precise, efficient, and persuasive written advocacy. Strong writing is not a secondary consideration for and in this position; it is central. We are looking for someone who takes pride in the quality of written work and understands that first-rate writing separates outstanding litigators from good ones.
Also important is the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships. We value attorneys who are responsive, thoughtful, professional, and practical—lawyers who inspire client confidence, exercise sound judgment, and communicate effectively with clients through demanding and often high-stakes matters. The attorney in this role must be comfortable serving not only as an advocate, but also as a counselor whom clients trust.
This role is especially attractive for an attorney who is looking for better work, more responsibility, stronger mentorship, and more direct client exposure than may be available in a larger, more bureaucratic environment. The attorney in this position will work closely with experienced litigators on significant matters while also enjoying the autonomy, visibility, and substantive involvement that strong lateral candidates often seek.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft substantive pleadings, motions, and briefs
- Conduct rigorous legal research and develop strategic legal positions
- Manage litigation matters from early case assessment through resolution
- Handle discovery, including drafting and responding to written discovery and coordinating document production
- Prepare for and participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, trials, and appeals
- Work closely with senior attorneys on case strategy, witness preparation, and litigation planning
- Communicate directly with clients regarding case status, legal issues, risk assessment, and strategic recommendations
- Exercise strong judgment in managing deadlines, priorities, and competing demands across multiple matters and from several senior attorneys
- Contribute to a culture of excellence, professionalism, and outstanding client service within the firm
Qualifications:
- Minimum of three years of litigation experience in a law firm environment; at least six years of experience for those seeking an of counsel position
- Exceptional legal research, analytical, and writing skills
- Demonstrated experience drafting substantive motions, briefs, and other filings
- Strong oral communication skills and sound professional judgment
- Ability to develop and maintain productive, trusted client relationships
- High level of professionalism, responsiveness, and attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple active matters effectively
- Ability to work independently while collaborating well with colleagues and support staff
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Colorado licensure (state and federal courts), or ability to quickly become licensed, required
- Experience taking and defending depositions, arguing motions, and participating in mediations is preferred
- Trial experience—civil and/or criminal—is a significant plus
- Experience handling complex commercial, employment, fiduciary, tort, insurance, or other high-stakes civil matters is also valued
Compensation and Benefits:
The expected base compensation for this position is $100,000-$175,000 for associates depending on experience, demonstrated writing ability, academic credentials, and productivity. For more experienced attorneys who prefer an of counsel arrangement, expected base compensation is $175,000 and up.
In addition to base compensation, sizable performance-based bonuses may be available for attorneys who perform at a high level, contribute significantly to the firm's success, and demonstrate excellence in both advocacy and client service.
The firm offers comprehensive benefits including:
- Health insurance
- Retirement benefits
- Paid time off
- Paid holidays
- Tech products and support
- Professional development support
