About the Opportunity:
EM Immigration Law Firm is seeking an experienced bilingual Managing Legal Director.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for an immigration attorney who is ready to lead a high-volume legal department, oversee complex immigration matters, develop attorneys and legal professionals, and contribute to the continued growth of the firm.

The Managing Legal Director will lead a bilingual team of 7 members located in the United States and the Dominican Republic and report directly to the Board of Directors. The position is supported by a Legal Supervisor responsible for daily operational follow-up, customer service department, and an independent Quality Department that conducts case audits and compliance reviews.

Key Responsibilities Legal Leadership and Compliance
  • Establish and maintain the firm's legal standards and decision-making criteria.
  • Oversee matters before USCIS, EOIR, the BIA and other relevant agencies.
  • Direct the strategy of complex, urgent and high-risk cases.
  • Ensure compliance with filing deadlines, hearings and professional obligations.
  • Monitor RFEs, NOIDs, motions, appeals and other critical filings.
  • Review case-performance and compliance indicators.
  • Implement corrective actions when errors, delays or legal risks are identified.
  • Maintain independent legal judgment in all case-acceptance and representation decisions.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor and develop immigration attorneys, paralegals and legal support staff.
  • Establish clear delegation, approval and escalation structures.
  • Promote accountability, collaboration, ethical judgment and excellent client service.

Consultations, Sales and Business Development

  • Conduct consultations with prospective clients and determine whether a viable immigration remedy exists.
  • Participate in the ethical conversion and closing of qualified prospective clients.
  • Review consultation and sales trends to identify service opportunities and training needs.

Marketing and Public Representation

  • Represent EM Immigration Law Firm in videos, interviews, live broadcasts..
  • Support the firm's efforts to strengthen brand authority, public trust and community engagement.
  • Maintain a professional image consistent with the firm's values.

Immigration Experience

The ideal candidate has substantial experience supervising or representing clients in matters involving asylum, removal defense, deportation proceedings, Motions to Reopen, BIA appeals, family petitions, adjustment of status, consular processing, VAWA, U visas, SIJS, waivers, citizenship and other matters before USCIS and Immigration Court.

Required Qualifications:
  • J.D. or another credential permitting valid admission to practice law in the United States.
  • Active license in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Active EOIR registration or immediate ability to obtain it.
  • Five to ten years of substantive U.S. immigration law experience.
  • At least three years of experience supervising attorneys or legal teams.
  • Significant experience before Immigration Court, including asylum and removal defense.
  • Strong knowledge of USCIS, EOIR and BIA procedures.
  • Experience working in a high-volume immigration practice.
  • Experience conducting consultations and developing client relationships.
  • Professional fluency in English and Spanish.
  • Satisfactory professional and disciplinary history.
  • Availability to work regularly from our New York office.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience creating SOPs, training programs and quality-control systems.
  • Familiarity with case-management platforms and CRM systems.
  • Experience managing distributed or international teams.
  • Ability to analyze KPIs and make data-driven decisions.
  • Experience training consultation, intake or sales teams.
  • Comfort appearing on camera and representing a law firm publicly.
