White Brenner LLP is seeking a Labor & Employment Attorney to join our growing Sacramento office. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with 3+ years of experience who enjoys collaborative legal work, meaningful client relationships, and the opportunity to take ownership of matters.

Our attorneys represent a diverse group of public agencies and private clients throughout California. Our practices include labor and employment, civil litigation, public law, environmental law, land use and real estate, transactional matters, elections law, and more.

The Opportunity:
The ideal candidate will have experience advising and representing public and/or private clients in a broad range of labor and employment matters. You will have the opportunity to work directly with clients and attorneys on matters involving both day-to-day employment counseling and complex disputes and litigation.

Responsibilities may include:
  • Advising public and private employers on a broad range of labor and employment matters
  • Handling employment litigation, administrative proceedings, mediations, and other disputes
  • Advising clients on wage and hour issues and employment compliance
  • Drafting and reviewing personnel policies, employee handbooks, agreements, and other employment-related documents
  • Advising on employee discipline, performance management, workplace investigations, and employee relations
  • Counseling clients regarding leaves of absence, reasonable accommodations, and other workplace issues
  • Advising public agency clients on labor and employment issues unique to the public sector
  • Working with clients to identify practical, effective solutions to workplace issues
  • Managing matters, deadlines, and client relationships with a high degree of independence
  • Collaborating with attorneys and staff across the firm's practice areas

What We're Looking For:
We are looking for an attorney who is driven practical, responsive, and client-focused. The ability to handle complex matters while providing thoughtful, practical advice is essential.

Required:
  • Active California State Bar license and membership in good standing
  • 3+ years of labor and employment legal experience
  • Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines
  • Strong commitment to exceptional client service

Preferred:
  • Public sector labor and employment experience
  • Experience representing cities, counties, special districts, or other public agencies
  • Workplace investigation and employee relations experience
  • Trial, arbitration, mediation, or administrative hearing experience
