Job Summary:
Kutak Rock LLP seeks an Associate Attorney to join its busy litigation and trial practice in its Los Angeles office. Qualified candidates will have two or more years of experience in managing all aspects of complex litigation defense in federal and state courts, as well as arbitration forums. This dynamic role is ideal for an attorney with interest in developing their knowledge and skills in environmental toxic tort and commercial litigation while working closely with experienced partners and more senior associates in a collegial and collaborative environment.

Qualifications: Skills and Abilities

Ability to handle all aspects of complex civil litigation matters, including client communications, motions, discovery response, court appearances, mediations and negotiating settlements
Proficient in taking and defending depositions as well as drafting disposition motions
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to organize, prioritize and balance multiple priorities and deliver timely quality on assignments
Ability to be strategic and analytical with exceptional research and writing skills
Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and drive to help shape and expand a growing practice
Ability and confidence to work independently while thriving in a collaborative, team environment
Ability and desire to be mentored directly and to be taught remotely by attorneys in other offices
Commitment to interacting directly with and achieving the goals of firm clients

Qualifications: Education and Experience

Must be currently admitted to practice in California with an active bar license in good standing
2+ years of experience in complex civil litigation defense required with experience in environmental, toxic-tort, commercial, and/or construction matters preferred

Position Information:

Status: Exempt
Salary Range: $145,000-$195,000 annual base salary, commensurate with relevant experience, plus discretionary bonus
Work Arrangement: Hybrid, with manager approval
