Description:

Legal Counsel at CDPHP are members of the Legal Affairs leadership team and primarily responsible for providing legal services and counsel to management in a variety of areas, including policy development, member and provider issues, individual and institutional provider relationships, employment, contracting, acquisitions and other transactional projects and regulatory affairs. They will provide legal advice to management concerning federal, state, and local laws and their impact on CDPHP's plans, programs, operations, and community relationships. They are responsible for making decisions about complex legal issues and their application to the Plan's business.

Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctorate, admission to New York State Bar, and license to practice law in New York State are required.
  • Experience providing legal advice to management level staff concerning federal, state, and local laws and their impact on planning, programs and operations is required.
  • Experience providing legal advice and decisions on corporate legal issues is required.
  • Experience in providing corporate legal counsel and services in the healthcare industry is preferred.
  • Experience proving legal services and counsel to management in a variety of areas, including policy development, member and provider issues, contracting, employment and regulatory affairs is preferred.
  • Experience in providing corporate legal counsel and services to the management of a managed care organization, health maintenance organization or indemnity insurance organization is preferred.
  • Experience providing legal guidance in payer or provider environments is preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to pro-actively identify problems, as well as recommend and/or implement effective solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service and develop relationships both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, train or supervise staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multiple partners to positively affect outcomes at the team, organization and member level.
  • Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, including the ability to coordinate workflow.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
