What We're Looking ForAn Insurance Company - Worker Compensation Division is looking for a Law Clerk! This is a full-time opportunity during Summer break, continuing part-time during school year. This opening provides current law students an opportunity to gain practical, hands-on, in-house legal experience within the insurance industry. The successful candidate will have the unique experience of partnering one-on-one with our Senior Corporate Counsel, while gaining exposure to all facets of our company, and receive a high level of visibility with various members of our executive leadership team.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Senior Corporate Counsel with legal research, analysis and document review
- Assist Senior Corporate Counsel in the preparation of memoranda, position statements, contracts and agreements, including master services, licensing, professional services and vendor agreements
- Special projects as assigned
- Second Year student and above, or recent grad
- Sound working knowledge of legal research procedures and resources such as LEXIS and Westlaw; Proficient in Microsoft word processing software, Microsoft spreadsheet software, and able to quickly master and demonstrate proficiency with applicable databases, systems and vendor software programs
- Exceptional academic credentials
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with keen attention to detail
- Highly motivated self- starter with strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
- Ability to take direction and effectively partner with legal and non-legal personnel for projects assigned
- Ability to synthesize complex and diverse information and identify items requiring additional information or action
