Description: A Full-Service Law Firm has an opening in the San Francisco or Los Angeles office for a Counsel in our Labor & Employment Department. The ideal candidate will have eight to twelve years of relevant experience.Qualifications: Juris Doctorate (JD) required. Must be licensed to practice law in the State of California.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Experience in defending against single plaintiff litigation matters, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour, reasonable accommodation.
- Experience with PAGA matters.
- Experience with class actions.
- Ability to work cases from start to finish, independently.
- Strong research, writing skills, and academic record.
- Experience drafting and responding to initial pleadings and discovery.
- Experience drafting and arguing motions including dispositive and discovery motions,
- Experience taking and defending deposition including taking plaintiffs deposition and defending deposition of corporate witnesses
- Experience in employment counseling on federal and state employment laws and regulations.
- Smaller portable book would be ideal; but, not required.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment including, but not limited to computers, telephones, printers, and copiers.
Physical Requirements:
Sedentary work: Exertion of physical strength to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects up to 10 pounds. Work involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.
