Job Overview:
This role is ideal for a proactive young attorney eager to grow in a collaborative, fast-paced environment while gaining real responsibility early in their career.
You will work directly with clients, appear in court, assist with negotiations, and develop litigation and transactional skills under mentorship from firm leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive legal research using tools such as LexisNexis and Westlaw
- Draft legal documents including briefs, memoranda, contracts, motions, and pleadings with precision and clarity
- Appear in court for criminal, traffic, and civil matters (based on experience level)
- Assist in client consultations and case strategy development
- Support attorneys during client meetings, hearings, and negotiations by preparing relevant materials and notes
- Participate in negotiations with opposing counsel and clients to achieve favorable outcomes
- Conduct due diligence for estate and business planning matters
- Assist with litigation discovery and case preparation
- Manage and maintain organized case files and legal documentation
- Stay informed about current laws and regulatory developments across practice areas
- You will receive increasing responsibility based on performance and initiative.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Licensed to practice in Virginia (or awaiting bar results)
- Strong research skills with experience using LexisNexis and Westlaw
- Excellent legal writing ability — clear, concise, and persuasive
- Working knowledge of multiple practice areas, including estate planning, criminal law, and civil litigation
- Strong organizational and case management skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team
- Sound judgment and professional demeanor in client interactions
- Negotiation skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Legal administrative experience is preferred but not required.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
