The Law Offices of Kirk Tarman & Associates is seeking a Junior Associate Attorney. The candidate must be a current member in good standing of the California State Bar.

This position is designed for newly licensed attorneys or attorneys with experience in other areas of law who are seeking to transition into criminal defense. The Junior Associate will work under Senior Attorney and will assist in criminal matters while learning criminal procedure, courtroom practice, and firm protocols.

Position Responsibilities:
The Associate Attorney will assist in all aspects of criminal defense representation under the supervision of senior counsel, including:
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research using LexisNexis, Westlaw, and other legal research tools to support case preparation.
  • Draft legal documents including motions, pleadings, memoranda, and correspondence with precision and clarity.
  • Assist senior attorneys in case management, client interviews, and courtroom proceedings.
  • Prepare case summaries and organize evidence to facilitate effective litigation strategies.
  • Attend court hearings and client meetings as required to gain practical experience and support ongoing cases.
  • Maintain meticulous records of case files and ensure compliance with procedural rules.
  • Collaborate with senior attorney on developing case strategies and negotiating settlements when appropriate.
