Position Summary, Responsibilities and Qualifications
Honigman's Intellectual Property department has a deep bench of powerhouse IP litigators. Our extensive experience includes plaintiff and defense side patent, trademark and unfair competition, copyright, and trade secret litigation. The team also regularly handles licensing and other contractual disputes, as well as enforcement of confidentiality and noncompetition agreements. We regularly represent our clients before federal and state courts, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), the U.S. International Trade Commission, foreign administrative agencies, and alternate dispute resolution forums.

Key Responsibilities:
Assist with representing clients in complex IP Litigation matters including:
  • Conducting legal research and analysis; drafting motions, pleadings, briefs, discovery requests and interrogatories, memoranda, and other relevant documents;
  • Providing pre-litigation counsel, licensing advice, and technical evaluations on relevant matters; and
  • Taking a key role in written discovery and depositions, trial preparation, and trial; and developing case strategy.
  • Deliver high quality work-product and effectively communicate at all levels of Honigman and its clients;
  • Demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and high energy and enthusiasm for counseling in the relevant client sector;
  • Exhibit highly responsive, creative and efficient work habits;
  • Strive to continuously improve knowledge, skills and abilities and seek guidance and feedback to improve performance and productivity;
  • Take responsibility for enhancing expertise, in addition to seeking out formal and informal training;
  • Integrate into the practice and build strong relationships with clients and within Honigman; and
  • Demonstrate a long-term interest in networking with existing clients and developing business opportunities.

Qualifications:
  • 2 to 4 years of patent litigation experience in a law firm;
  • Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under significant time constraints;
  • Outstanding interpersonal, analytical, organizational, and communication (written and verbal) skills required;
  • J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited institution;
  • Licensed Illinois, Michigan, or Washington D.C. attorney in good standing (or with ability to waive into either jurisdiction); and
  • Ability to travel as client needs require.

Compensation and Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $235,000-$310,000 annually, with the opportunity to earn meaningful performance-based bonuses.
