Overview:
Freshfields US LLP is seeking an associate to join our International Arbitration practice in our Washington, D.C. office. Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 2 years of legal experience including prior experience in international arbitration.

Our International Arbitration group is globally recognized for representing multinational corporations, sovereign states, and state-owned entities in complex, high-stakes disputes under major arbitral rules. Associates work closely with partners and colleagues across offices worldwide on cutting-edge cross-border matters.

The practice offers a dynamic and globally integrated platform, providing associates with early responsibility, meaningful partner interaction, and exposure to sophisticated international disputes.

Successful candidates will:
  • Have demonstrated interest and experience in international arbitration, and in complex, cross-border disputes
  • Have a minimum of 2 years experience at a leading law firm or arbitration practice
  • Possess native or strong Spanish language skills in addition to having full professional proficiency in English (written and spoken)
  • Be admitted to practice law in at least one jurisdiction
  • Possess strong legal research, drafting, and analytical skills
  • Thrive in a collaborative, international environment and be eager to work closely with partners and colleagues across jurisdictions
  • Be proactive, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple workstreams efficiently

Freshfields is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to the States of New York and California and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $225,000 to $235,000.
