Position Summary:
The Intake Attorney – Class Action Underwriting is responsible for conducting in-depth consultations with potential clients to assess the merits of labor and employment claims. This role requires strong analytical skills to review employer-provided documentation and evaluate the viability of potential class action and PAGA filings. The Intake Attorney plays a critical role in the firm's front-end legal evaluation process and supports senior attorneys by providing clear and concise recommendations based on factual and legal analysis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct long-form consultations with potential clients to gather relevant information regarding wage and hour claims and other employment-related disputes.
  • Analyze payroll records, personnel files, and other employment documentation to identify patterns of potential labor code violations.
  • Research companies to determine business size, industry practices, and financial stability to support case feasibility.
  • Draft detailed intake summaries and legal memos outlining findings, factual background, and case recommendations.
  • Collaborate with supervising attorneys and legal assistants to ensure accurate and efficient intake processing.
  • Provide input on case strategy and support in identifying high-value class action and PAGA opportunities.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of California Labor Code, PAGA procedures, and relevant case law.
  • Assist in the continuous improvement of intake procedures and underwriting methodology.

Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in the State of California (in good standing).
  • Up to 1 year of experience in a law firm or similar legal environment preferred, but not required.
  • Demonstrated interest in labor and employment law, class action litigation, or plaintiff-side legal work.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with acute attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn internal case management software.
