About the role:Miller, Leiby & Associates, P.C. is seeking a skilled Insurance Defense Attorney to join our dynamic legal team in New York, NY. Responsibilities:
- Defend insurance carriers, policyholders, and corporate clients in civil litigation matters
- Manage a caseload of insurance defense files from inception through resolution, including trial
- Draft and argue motions, pleadings, briefs, and other legal documents
- Conduct depositions, examinations before trial (EBTs), and witness interviews
- Perform legal research and provide strategic case assessments and coverage opinions
- Negotiate settlements and liaise with insurance carriers, adjusters, and clients
- Appear in New York state and/or federal court for hearings, conferences, and trials
Requirements:
- Active admission to the New York State Bar
- 2+ years of experience in insurance defense, civil litigation, or related practice area
- Familiarity with general liability, premises liability, auto liability, or related lines of coverage
- Strong legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills
- Excellent communication and client relationship management skills
