Description:
We are seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join our growing, mid-sized law firm, with a primary focus on immigration law. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent law school graduate or an attorney with up to three years of experience looking to build a strong career in immigration practice.Requirements:
- Licensed to practice law in North Carolina
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
- Active member in good standing with the North Carolina Bar
- 0–3 years of legal experience (immigration experience preferred, but not required)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience or strong interest in immigration law (removal defense, family-based petitions, waivers, asylum, etc.)
- Excellent legal research, writing, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to independently manage a caseload while working as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to providing excellent client service
- Bilingual in Spanish (highly preferred)
- Active and in-good-standing license to practice law in a U.S. jurisdiction
- Admission to the South Carolina Bar is a plus
Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in a variety of immigration matters
- Prepare and review immigration applications, petitions, motions, and supporting documentation
- Represent clients before USCIS and Immigration Court (EOIR), as applicable
- Handle family-based immigration, adjustment of status, consular processing, waivers, and other immigration matters
- Review cases prepared by paralegals and provide legal guidance to support staff
- Conduct client consultations and develop case strategies
- Monitor deadlines and ensure cases are handled accurately and timely
- Communicate professionally with clients regarding case status, strategy, and next steps
- Stay current on changes in immigration laws, regulations, and procedures
What We're Looking For:
We are especially interested in an attorney who already has practical immigration experience and can confidently evaluate cases, identify potential legal issues, guide clients through the immigration process, and work closely with our paralegal and administrative team.
