About the Health Law Practice
Mintz's Health Law practice is uniquely positioned to guide clients through structural and operational challenges. Our clients include providers (non-profit, publicly traded, and private equity backed), payors, pharmacy benefit managers and administrators, manufacturers, distributors, and suppliers. Position Overview:
Mintz is seeking a mid-level associate to join the firm's Health Law practice in DC, New York or Los Angeles. The associate will support complex health care transactions, regulatory counseling, and contracting matters for clients across the health care industry, including health care industry investors, PBMs, managed care plans, providers, and pharmacies. The ideal candidate will be able to manage process-driven workstreams, contribute to transaction execution, support regulatory analysis, and work collaboratively with senior attorneys and cross-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities:
  • Supporting health care M&A transactions, including transaction execution, due diligence, regulatory review, and related workstreams.
  • Assisting with high-volume PBM, managed care, pharmacy, provider, and health care services matters, including contracting and regulatory counseling.
  • Drafting, reviewing, and revising health care transaction documents, commercial agreements, regulatory analyses, client memoranda, and related deliverables.
  • Coordinating and managing process-driven workstreams to help senior attorneys focus on client strategy, counseling, and team leadership.
  • Working directly with senior attorneys and clients on recurring transactional, contracting, and regulatory matters.
  • Collaborating with cross-office and multidisciplinary teams across the firm to support client and practice-wide objectives.
  • Helping preserve continuity on ongoing client engagements by developing institutional knowledge and providing stable mid-level support.
  • Supporting the continued growth of the Health Law practice by contributing to efficient and high-quality client service.

Collaboration with team members is an important component of any role at Mintz. Therefore, the firm requires working from the office approximately 60% of the time in accordance with the firm's published guidelines.

Qualifications:
  • Graduated with a JD or LLM from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Must be admitted or eligible for admission in DC, New York or California
  • At least three years of relevant health care law experience, with a focus on health care M&A, regulatory counseling, contracting, or a combination of those areas
  • Experience supporting transactional matters, including due diligence, document review, drafting principal and ancillary transaction documents, regulatory issue-spotting, and other transaction-related workstreams
  • Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating health care industry contracts, such as provider, pharmacy, managed care, PBM, vendor, service or other commercial agreements
  • Familiarity with health care regulatory issues affecting PBM, managed care, provider, pharmacy, or health care services clients, or demonstrated ability to quickly develop fluency in new health care regulatory areas
  • Ability to manage workstreams independently, exercise sound judgment, and escalate issues appropriately
  • Ability to work efficiently with senior attorneys, associates, clients, and cross-disciplinary teams

  • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and balance competing responsibilities
