We're seeking a General Counsel, based in our Miami, Florida HQ. Reporting to the CFO, you will provide legal support across all business units of the Company. You will serve as a trusted business partner to business unit management and will participate as a key member of the leadership team. Responsible for oversight of a US-based team of 3 along with partners in the US and abroad, you will also advise senior executives and the Board on the legal direction of the Company.

You Will:
  • Review, draft and negotiate agreements with A State-Of-The-Art Money Transfer System money transfer partners and vendors in coordination with responsible business leaders and other internal stakeholders.
  • Partner with legal colleagues and other business and stakeholder groups within A State-Of-The-Art Money Transfer System and its subsidiaries to ensure the most effective support and relevant expertise is applied across all matters.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal requirements of a NASDAQ-listed Company.
  • Provide strategic counsel to help navigate within a heavily-regulated and evolving industry backdrop. Support M&A activity of the Company, including performing legal Due Diligence and constructing and negotiating deal terms and conditions.
  • Determine the appropriate balance of in-house and outside counsel, manage outside counsel relationships, and develop and maintain compliance with the legal department budget.
  • Provide legal advice on complex matters to business partners within the company and on the Board of Directors.
  • Stay current and advise on changes to the regulatory and competitive environments globally.
  • Anticipate and mitigate potential legal problems within the organization and develop and implement strategies to reduce potential areas of risk.

You Have:
  • 15 + years of practicing experience within Financial Services, Payments or FinTech industries.
  • Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited school of law and admitted to practice law in Florida or another state.
  • Experience as General Counsel or as a senior legal staff member of a Publicly Traded company
  • Ability to identify, prioritize, assess and manage risk for a broad spectrum of matters.
  • Experience effectively engaging and communicating with internal and external stakeholders, including C-level executives, regulators, banks, and Boards of Directors.
  • Experience in managing litigation matters, including commercial disputes and disputes with former employees.
  • Experience in retaining and managing outside counsel.
  • Experience in developing and managing a legal budget.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.
  • International experience a plus
