Job Overview:We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Law Associate to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in family law. This role requires excellent research and writing skills, as well as the ability to effectively negotiate and draft legal documents. The Law Associate will play a crucial role in supporting our clients through litigation and providing sound legal advice across multiple practice areas. Our practice areas include all aspects of family law, guardianships, and domestic violence restraining orders. Knowledge of and experience appearing in Sacramento and Placer county courts is a plus. Our practice is limited to Sacramento and Placer counties only.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive legal research using tools such as Westlaw to support case preparation.
- Draft legal documents, including pleadings, discovery, motions, declarations, briefs, etc.
- Assist in negotiations on behalf of clients in matters related to custody disputes, division of assets and debts, family support, etc.
- Provide legal advice in family law matters.
- Participate in litigation processes by preparing case files, attending court hearings, and representing clients as necessary.
- Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop case strategies and provide insights based on thorough research.
- Maintain organized records of all legal documentation and correspondence within the law office.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the bar in California.
- Strong knowledge of family law and litigation.
- Proficient in legal research methodologies and tools such as Westlaw.
- Excellent writing skills with experience in legal drafting and documentation.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to advocate effectively for clients.
- Prior experience in a legal field is preferred.
