In this role, you'll assist individuals with a variety of family law matters, including navigating prenuptial agreements, handling divorce proceedings, managing alimony/spousal support and child support cases, and attending court hearings.
The ideal candidate is passionate about helping people through some of the most challenging moments in their lives. You must be prepared to handle sensitive issues such as child custody, domestic violence, and child abuse with professionalism, empathy, and a steadfast commitment to your clients. Strong negotiation and courtroom skills are essential for success, and the ability to maintain composure in high-stress situations is critical.
Requirements:
- Texas law license (required).
- No prior experience in family law necessary, though it is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
- A commitment to providing exceptional client service.
Responsibilities:
- Assist clients effectively by understanding their needs analyzing the situation then strategizing and deciding on a proper course of action
- Divide marital assets, including real estate, when necessary during divorce proceedings
- Prepare legal documents such as legal pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, contracts, judgments, and orders for a high volume of cases
- Keep client files properly organized and up to date
- Represent clients in court proceedings as needed
Qualifications:
- Candidates should be great negotiators and communicators, specifically in situations when emotions and stress are high
- Proven record of success in advocating for plaintiffs and defendants
- Active membership with the ABA (American Bar Association)
- Previous criminal justice or other legal background preferred
- Undergraduate degree with a legal background and Juris Doctor degree required
