Fuentez Law, a boutique law firm in Friendswood, Texas, is looking for an experienced Family Law Associate who is confident in litigation, dependable, client-focused, and capable of managing cases with a high level of independence.

This Is a Litigation Position

If You Do Not Want to Be in The Courtroom Litigating Family Law Matters, This Position Is Not for You.

The Ideal Candidate Must Be Comfortable Appearing in Court and Have the Desire and Ability to Litigate Cases at Hearings and Trials. You Should Be Confident Advocating for Your Clients, Thinking on Your Feet, and Taking an Active Role in Courtroom Proceedings.

The Role:
As a Family Law Associate, You Will Have the Opportunity to Handle a Variety of Family Law Matters While Working Within a Boutique Firm Environment Where Your Contributions Matter.

The Ideal Candidate Is Someone Who Can Hit the Ground Running, Manage Their Caseload Independently, Communicate Proactively with Clients and The Legal Team, Conduct Effective Client Consultations, and Confidently Prepare for And Participate in Hearings, Mediations, and Trials.

What You'll Be Responsible For
  • Managing Family Law Cases from Beginning to End
  • Appearing in Court and Actively Litigating Family Law Matters
  • Preparing for And Handling Court Hearings and Trials
  • Advocating for Clients in Contested Family Law Matters
  • Preparing for And Participating in Mediations
  • Drafting Pleadings, Motions, Discovery, Correspondence, and Other Legal Documents
  • Drafting, Reviewing, Propounding, and Responding to Discovery Requests
  • Conducting Thorough and Effective Client Consultations
  • Effectively Communicating with Potential New Clients and Demonstrating the Ability to Convert Qualified Consultations Into Retained Clients
  • Meeting Established Billable Hour Expectations
  • Independently Managing Case Deadlines, Court Deadlines, and Competing Priorities
  • Promptly Responding to Client and Team Member Communications
  • Keeping Clients Consistently Informed About the Status of Their Cases
  • Building and Maintaining Strong, Professional Relationships with Clients
  • Working Collaboratively with The Firm While Maintaining the Ability to Work Independently
  • Taking Ownership of Assigned Cases and Following Through without Requiring Micromanagement

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (j.D.) and Admission to Practice Law in Texas
  • No Disciplinary Actions from Any Us State Bar
  • At Least 2 Years of Experience Practicing Family Law
  • Strong In-Court Litigation Skills
  • Experience Litigating Family Law Matters at Hearings and Trials
  • Demonstrated Ability and Willingness to Actively Litigate in The Courtroom
  • Experience Preparing for And Handling Court Hearings, Trials, and Mediations
  • Strong Ability to Draft Pleadings and Motions
  • Experience Drafting and Responding to Discovery Requests
  • Experience Conducting Client Consultations
  • Ability to Effectively Communicate with Prospective Clients and Retain New Clients Through an Effective Consultation
  • Demonstrated Ability to Meet Billable Hour Expectations
  • Experience Using My Case
  • Strong Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Proven Ability to Independently Manage Cases, Deadlines, and Competing Priorities
  • Excellent Written and Verbal Communication Skills
  • Ability to Promptly Respond to Clients and Team Members
  • Strong Organizational Skills and Attention to Detail
  • Ability to Work Independently without Constant Supervision or Micromanagement
  • Strong Client-Management Skills and A Commitment to Keeping Clients Informed
  • Professional Judgment, Reliability, Initiative, and A Strong Work Ethic

Preferred Qualification:
Fluent Spanish-Speaking Ability Is Strongly Preferred.

The Ability to Communicate Fluently in Spanish Is a Valuable Asset in Serving Our Diverse Client Base and Building Strong Attorney-Client Relationships.

  • Starting Salary of $80,000, with Compensation Based on Experience
