Description:

Do you love hearing elderly people talk about their life story? Do you find estate planning strategies fascinating? Are you the type of attorney who will do whatever it takes to make a document perfect because you take pride in doing things right? Do you feel at home and confident in probate court? Are you organized and efficient so that clients receive their documents quickly, and client files are maintained? Can you advocate passionately without losing civil professionalism?

We have been a woman-owned, faith-based Texas law firm since 1987. Our expanding, established law firm is looking for an experienced Attorney to handle all types of probate, take charge of initial intake of probate and family law clients, make house calls and hospital calls when necessary, and draft excellent estate planning documents for everyday middle-class people. This role carries a great deal of responsibility, and we do not tolerate mediocrity. We work diligently to protect our reputation as honest and high-quality. Our firm is rapidly growing. We have quarterly goals and are committed to core values that include praying with and for clients and providing excellent customer service.

We require a highly analytical applicant with excellent negotiation and organizational abilities who is available to work full-time at our location, either in San Antonio or New Braunfels. We are looking for someone who is willing to do the work involved to earn an excellent reputation. You must be warm and friendly to put people at ease, have attention to detail, and also have sales experience, which is preferable. You will handle all types of probate matters from start to finish, prepare documents such as simple wills, conduct will execution ceremonies, do initial estate planning consultations, and handle testate and intestate probate court hearings.

What's in It for You?
  • Competitive base salary + generous bonuses—your hard work pays off!
  • Bar dues + up to 30 hours of CLE annually—on us!
  • Paid malpractice insurance & life insurance policy.
  • Company-matched retirement plan—we invest in your future.
  • Paid holidays, PTO, and free parking.
  • A friendly work environment with a boss and team members who care about you, the firm, and the clients.

This is NOT an entry-level position. You must have a Texas bar license in good standing and experience in Texas probate law. We need a reputable attorney who can hit the ground running with little supervision! We have a pleasant work environment and pride ourselves on doing our job well.

It is also not a remote position. We need you available to collaborate, share your energy, and discuss issues with team members in the office when you are not in court. We believe in making customized plans and creative solutions rather than a cookie-cutter approach. We see service to those who have lost a loved one as something we are called to do.

Our ideal candidate will be a qualified Texas attorney with at least 5 years of experience in Texas probate law and excellent written communication abilities. Please apply if this describes you!

What's in It for You? In addition to the salary, we offer generous bonuses throughout the year for meeting certain goals. Some employees earn bonuses every pay period. We have free parking, up to 30 hours paid CLE annually, paid malpractice insurance, reimbursement for health insurance, group life insurance, weekly all-firm meetings, social events, friendly, caring staff, and paid time off.

Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with senior attorneys and paralegals to transition potential clients into firm clients
  • Handle uncontested and contested probate cases, both testate and intestate, from application to conclusion
  • Establish rapport and goodwill with potential new clients and persuade them to hire this firm because you are confident we can help them better than any other firm
  • Supervise the work of paralegals with an eye to detail and bill clients appropriately for the work
  • Prepare simple Wills and powers of attorney, and conduct the execution ceremonies
  • Assist with initial consultations in all types of estate planning, probate, and family law cases
  • Maintain accurate and organized client files
  • Meet billable hour requirements, and also work efficiently and swiftly
  • Communicate regularly with clients to keep them informed on their case status
  • Willing to become certified in guardianship matters if you are not already
  • Participate in firm community goodwill activities and social media videos
  • Confer with senior partners and paralegals to effectively move through the civil litigation process
  • Advocate on behalf of clients by understanding their needs, effectively analyzing the situation, and forming a strategy for a plan of action
  • Organize and maintain client files to ensure they are kept current
  • Discuss plans with clients for distributing clients' assets
  • Draft and file wills, trusts, and powers of attorney

Qualifications:

  • Must be of excellent reputation
  • Must have a working knowledge of the rules and procedures for intestate probate
  • Must have a working knowledge of wills, trusts, probate, and TODDs
  • Must be able to complete tasks in a timely manner while being thorough
  • Great communication skills, particularly in stressful and emotional situations

Compensation: $94,000 annually plus bonuses
