What we are looking for:
We are seeking an exceptional Trial Attorney/Lead Litigator who combines courtroom excellence with collaborative team leadership. This role is perfect for an experienced litigator ready to step away from the big law grind while continuing to handle sophisticated, complex matters that make a real difference in clients' lives.
Business Development:
- Established book of business preferred – we're seeking a litigator with existing client relationships who is ready to grow their practice in a more supportive, flexible environment
- Proven track record of client origination and business development
- Strong network and reputation in the legal community

Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of litigation experience in a boutique or large law firm setting
- First Chair Trial experience required – we need someone who is comfortable and confident in the courtroom
- Federal Court experience strongly preferred
- Proven track record of successfully managing cases from inception through trial and appeal
- Experience mentoring and collaborating with junior attorneys and support staff

Core Responsibilities:
Case Management and Litigation
- Independently manage a docket of complex litigation matters from start to finish
- Develop case strategy and theory working collaboratively with clients and team
- Handle all aspects of case logistics, including docket control orders, deadlines, and communications between parties and the Courts
- Draft motions, pleadings, discovery requests and responses, and other necessary litigation documents
- Conduct depositions, negotiations, mediations, and arbitrations
- Make regular court appearances and handle motion practice
- Prepare for and conduct trials in state and federal courts
- Manage discovery processes and case investigation
- Serve as primary attorney contact for litigation clients
- Communicate regularly with clients regarding case status, strategy, and developments
- Make difficult legal concepts understandable and relatable
- Provide realistic assessments of case strengths, weaknesses, and likely outcomes
- Build and maintain strong client relationships based on trust and exceptional service
- Maintain and grow existing client relationships
- Originate new matters and expand the firm's litigation practice
- Participate in networking, speaking engagements, and community involvement
- Collaborate with other attorneys on cross-selling opportunities across practice areas (Business, Estates & Trusts, Real Estate)
- Contribute to the firm's marketing and thought leadership initiatives
- Leverage your existing network to build the firm's presence and reputation
- Collaborate with other attorneys and team members to ensure seamless case management
- Mentor and guide junior attorneys in litigation skills and professional development
- Work effectively with paralegals and legal assistants to maximize efficiency
- Participate in case strategy discussions and firm-wide initiatives
- Contribute to the firm's collaborative and supportive culture
Technical Expertise
- Active Texas law license in good standing
- Strong legal research and writing skills
- Excellent oral argument and advocacy abilities
- Thorough understanding of civil procedure, rules of evidence, and litigation strategy
- Experience with both transactional disputes and traditional litigation
- Ability to think innovatively about case strategy and problem-solving
