Experienced Criminal Attorney Wanted — Bring Your Courtroom Skills to A Unique Public Safety PracticeOur San Diego Law Firm Represents Local, State, and Federal Public Safety Employees and The Labor Associations that Represent Them. We Are Looking for An Attorney with A Minimum of Five Years of Substantial Criminal-Law Experience Who Wants to Bring Those Skills Into a Broader and Highly Specialized Practice. Federal Criminal Experience Is Preferred, but It Is Not Required.
This Is Not a Traditional Criminal-Defense Position, and It Is Not a Traditional Labor-Law Position.
It Is a Chance to Use the Judgment, Advocacy, Courtroom Presence, Witness Examination Skills, and Ability to Think on Your Feet that You Have Developed in Criminal Practice—and Apply Them to Some of The Most Important Matters Affecting Public Safety Employees.
Our Attorneys Handle a Wide Variety of Work, Including Criminal Matters, Administrative Investigations and Disciplinary Proceedings, Civil Service Appeals, Labor Disputes, and Other Matters Involving Public Safety Employees and Their Associations.
For the Right Attorney, This Position Offers an Opportunity to Expand Beyond a Purely Criminal Practice While Continuing to Do the Kind of Work that Makes Experienced Litigators Valuable: Analyzing Difficult Facts, Advising Clients in High-Stakes Situations, Developing Case Strategy, Preparing Witnesses, Examining Testimony, Negotiating Resolutions, and Advocating when The Outcome Matters.
Attorneys Also Participate in Periodic, Prescheduled Emergency After-Hours Rotations Representing Public Safety Employees Involved in Critical Incidents. These Assignments Place You Alongside Clients at Some of The Most Serious Moments of Their Careers and Require Calm Judgment, Strong Advocacy, and The Ability to Provide Clear Advice Under Pressure.
We Are Looking for Someone Who Already Knows how To Be a Lawyer.
Someone Who Is Comfortable in A Courtroom.
Someone Who Can Talk to Clients, Evaluate Credibility, Make Difficult Judgment Calls, and Take Responsibility for Important Matters.
Trial Experience Is Highly Valued. Experience Representing Law Enforcement Officers, Handling Administrative Matters, or Working in Labor and Employment Law Is Helpful, but It Is Not Required.
We Can Teach the Public-Sector and Labor Side of The Practice. What We Are Looking for Is the Advocacy Experience, Judgment, Maturity, and Confidence that Come from Having Already Handled Serious Criminal Matters.
