Position Summary:
The Director of Litigation is a highly focused team point of contact who is trained to lead in meeting departmental goals, including performance and quality. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable in the litigation process, organizational procedures, and goals. This position is responsible for departmental improvements, and oversees the training and mentoring of new litigation team members.

Responsibilities:
Essential Duties, Responsibilities
  • Effectively assists in overseeing the performance of the Litigation Team, by providing daily supervision and support; is available for staff to utilize for questions and guidance on how to handle day to day operations.
  • Actively monitors all litigation case deadlines and all Statute of Limitation deadlines for the firm.
  • Assists in the resolution of interdepartmental issues and collaborates to develop solutions.
  • Evaluates the bandwidth for each litigation desk and ensure that teams are managing their caseload effectively.
  • Serves as subject matter expert to Litigation Managers/Paralegals, Legal Assistants, Litigation Schedulers, and Bighorn's Spanish Translator.
  • Communicate clear goals and expectations.
  • Responsible for team meetings – whereby discussions of important matters, training, and processes are shared.
  • Manages the process of transitioning pre-litigation (claims) cases to the litigation department within the firm.
  • Overseeing retention of original documents and evidence.
  • Develops and manages firm standard operating procedures and forms/templates for Learning and Development.
  • Actively communicates changes with Court Rules and Procedures within the State of Nevada.
  • Manages the process of referring out cases to outside law firms.
  • Overseeing all interpleader cases for the firm.
  • Assists with developing templates within Bighorn's legal management software (Filevine) and
  • integration of new products/services.
  • Develops and manages vendor relationships, including monitoring vendor invoices.
  • Manages attendance, overtime requests, paid time off requests, and disciplinary actions of direct reports.
  • Crucial in creating a positive team environment.
  • Assists with the hiring and training of new hires within the Litigation Department.
  • Develops and manages firm goals for production, staff bonuses, and monthly staff incentives.
  • Conducts performance reviews for direct reports.
  • Attends continuing education/personal development conferences.

Qualifications:

  • College degree required.

  • 7 years of Legal experience is required.
