Deputy Attorneys General, with critical support from criminal special investigators, victim service specialists, paraprofessionals, and administrative staff, prosecute criminal cases, enforce consumer laws, provide counsel to state agencies, ensure the public's access to open government, protect the abused, and much more.

Summary Statement
The Criminal Division seeks a Deputy Attorney General to join the Domestic Violence Unit in New Castle County. The Deputy Attorneys General in this Unit are responsible for compiling and producing discovery, drafting motions and briefs, performing research, extending and negotiating plea agreements and taking matters to trial. This is a Unit with a very high volume of cases with a number of court calendars scheduled per week.

Essential Functions:
This position involves the prosecution of domestic violence related crimes spanning between Family Court and Superior Court. All applicants need to work well with law enforcement and victim service specialists to navigate this specialized subject matter. In addition to handling all Domestic Violence related misdemeanor matters in Family Court, this DAG will be tasked with monitoring and assisting with DV related cases in Superior Court and, occasionally, the Court of Common Pleas. The DAG will also be asked to attend trainings in areas specific to the prosecution of DV cases including evidence-based prosecution, stalking, strangulation, etc.

Job Requirements:
Strengths should include the ability to evaluate cases, determine resolutions, and anticipate legal issues with the ability to research accurately and effectively. The Deputy Attorney General must have or be able to develop a good working relationship with other Deputy Attorneys General, support staff, and Court personnel and must have the ability and determination to learn and apply the relevant laws and court rules. The Deputy Attorney General must work well with victims of domestic violence and other witnesses needed for court. Membership in Delaware Bar required.
