Description:
Position:A French Luxury Fashion House Controlled & Chaired by French Businessman Bernard Arnault is seeking an experienced and strategic lawyer to join the Americas team as Legal Counsel. The Legal Counsel must be agile, self-sufficient and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with broad responsibilities primarily involving data privacy/protection and compliance matters.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Manage and handle all aspects of data privacy and security matters for the company
- Provide day to day assistance across the company on privacy/data protection and data security issues, track legislation, manage operational compliance and remediation, and advise on the collection, retention and use of customer and employee data
- Manage privacy-related litigation and regulatory matters
- Support digital marketing/e-commerce and technology projects, including ad tech, brand analytics, third party match, search engine optimization, expansion of digital commerce, operations to new markets, and similar matters
- Negotiate (internally and externally) terms of contracts, partnering with business department and attorneys.
- Draft agreements, consulting with business partners and attorneys as required
- Implement, refine and scale company's Americas compliance processes, including but not limited to vendor management, data privacy and ethics.
- Help solidify company-wide understanding of our Code of Conduct and anti-corruption policies.
- Assist with the development and presentation of compliance trainings.
- Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest developments in applicable laws and regulations.
- Work with Headquarter, other LVMH Legal Departments, and external counsel as needed.

Reports to:
Senior Vice President, General Counsel
Profile:
- US law degree or equivalent, 1-3 years of experience in a law firm or in house is preferred
- Minimum 8 years of experience in a privacy-focused role, with deep understanding of the data protection laws, requirements and regulator expectations in the U.S., Canada and globally
- Outstanding writing and drafting skill
- Ability to self-start in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills
- Exercise sound, pragmatic judgment and think strategically
- Strong business acumen
- Ability to deliver complex legal advice in a business-friendly manner
- Ability to balance large volume of work through effective time management and prioritization
- Preferred but not mandatory:
- Mix of law firm and in-house experience
- In-house experience in a retail environment
- Must be eager and able to learn new areas of law and how they intersect with the business.
