- Criminal Defense Attorney will represent clients in criminal defense cases, including arraignments, hearings, negotiations, and trials
- Conduct thorough legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other resources to build compelling defense strategies
- Draft legal documents such as motions, pleadings, and case summaries with precision and clarity
- Investigate case facts by interviewing witnesses, reviewing evidence, and consulting with experts when necessary
- Negotiate plea agreements that serve clients' best interests while maintaining ethical standards
- Maintain organized case files and ensure compliance with all procedural requirements
Skills:
- Virginia State Bar member in good standing. Though compelling candidates who have or will sit for the Virginia Bar Exam will be considered.
- Will be trained on criminal defense litigation and courtroom procedures
- Excellent negotiation skills to achieve favorable outcomes for clients
- Proficiency in legal research tools like Westlaw and LexisNexis
- Exceptional writing skills for drafting clear and persuasive legal documents
